Alright, I should be writing my Magister thesis and I promise to get back to it in just a few moments. But I gotta write about this first.
Last night, two lovely guys (Matty and Bobby) broke the Guinness World Record for longest kiss (
http://stfproductions.wordpress.com/2010/09/20/they-did-it-matty-and-bobby-break-the-record-in-the-name-of-lgbt-rights/). And they're the first gay people to do it (no, they're not a couple - Bobby's got a boyfriend, who was very supportive of them). By accident, I stumbled onto the livestream last night and watched for some time. (Okay... I watched for a very, very, VERY long time... but since I'm getting sick, I just couldn't bring myself to write anything on my paper...) It was so overwhelming to see all the support, from all over the world, I actually started crying when they broke the record, it was such a touching moment. I guess most people can't even come close to imagining how physically and mentally straining such a thing is. They weren't allowed to go to the bathroom (and no adult nappies/diapers allowed); no sitting down, no pillows, no people touching them (only handing them stuff); and their lips had to touch all the time, absolutely no exceptions.
And they've done it. They broke the record (which was 32h07m14s), which should then be something like 32 hours and 30 minutes (if I remember correctly). They're so exceptionally strong - it takes a lot to do something like that and not give up. Wow. I definitely take a bow.
Go and have a look at it on their homepage
http://mattyandbobbykiss.tripod.com/index.html (also, take a look at the good cause they were doing it for
http://www.thetrevorproject.org/ ), search them on facebook or twitter, also videos on youtube and ustream.tv! It was just so touching, I'm still close to crying every time I see the interviews after they were through. (Alright, I have to admit, I've been teary-eyed all day because of this and my love of LotR... don't ask... I guess, I'm going mental...)
Love you guys!!! <3
